“A true healer does not heal you. She simply reflects back your own innate capacity to heal.” ~ Jeff Foster
It is my deeply held belief, supported by clinical experience, that the natural state of body and mind is one of wellness. Furthermore, I believe that most people want to live lives that contribute to their sense of health and wellness. Unfortunately, a lot of us are unsure of just what it means to live a life of wellness. Or we have been in pain or in a state of dis-ease for so long that we have forgotten what it even means to feel well. This is when healing becomes necessary. This is where I can help.
Healing is, first and foremost, an inside job. In fact, healing actually begins at the very moment we commit to becoming healed. This is because our thoughts are now in alignment with an intention of wellness. In this way, our thoughts open the door and begin to lead the way toward healing and good health. As a practical matter, when we commit to becoming healed, we are more likely to make the kinds of lifestyle and dietary changes that are necessary for us to heal existing pain and dis-ease and to maximize our own inherent wellness. If the natural state of the mind and body is one of wellness, then it is really a matter of returning ourselves to our natural state. This begins with the very simple step of making the decision to be well.
Once the decision to be well has been taken, then, and only then, can a partner in healing step in and work with you to achieve wellness. As your healing partner, it is my role to guide and assist you in returning your body and mind to your natural state of wellness, to reflect back to you “your own capacity to heal.” I am honored and humbled to take on this role for so many and every day I am absolutely amazed at the incredible work my patients do to heal themselves. As someone who has done her own work to heal my mind and body, I understand the process on a personal level. And as a licensed physician with years of schooling and clinical experience, I have the tools and resources available to me to assist you on your healing journey.
As part of my approach to healing, I welcome conversation and questions about the state of your health and wellness and recruit you to be an active participant in your own healing. I will always do my best to explain the reasoning behind my diagnosis and treatment strategies in a way that opens the door to understanding and cooperation. I am direct with my patients and will always be honest in my assessments, even when what I have to say may not be what you want to hear. I am committed to open and honest communication with my patients because I believe that openness and honesty with the self are fundamental to wellness and I want to foster an environment that supports that.
I am grateful to have learned Chinese Medicine and to be a skilled and licensed Acupuncture Physician. But most importantly, I am grateful to be a healer and to work with so many wonderful patients who are so dedicated to their own healing. I look forward to the opportunity to become your partner in healing!
